Do I lose my MAC virginity?

Hiiiii,

So.... do I? I really want to start wearing lipstick/lipgloss but can never find anything that lasts or isn't sticky. I recently saw Kandee Johnson talk about the sets MAC are doing, so thought i'd check them out.

They're rather pricey, especially as i've never had anything of theirs before. Am I better going for something cheaper, like Barry M? If so, what would you recommend?

NOTD: Summer Sparkle and product rave! x

Hello lovelies,

Just a quick post to show you my current nail polish love. The shade is 'Starry Sky' in the Nailwear Pro+ range and is available from Avon (currrently £2.49 in Campaign 10). The colour is a lovely silver with some serious silver sparkle!

Another thing I have to mention is the issue of top coats. I recently invested in a Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti Chip Top Coat (phew!) which cost me £5.99 - a little more than I would usually spend on a polish. I was expecting great results but actually found this product was awful for chipping so had to replace it with something a little better. I went for 17's Double Gloss Top Coat for a much nicer £3.99 - and this one is a real winner! I use it as a top and bottom coat and it does a fantastic job. Long-lasting, doesn't chip and leaves a great glossy finish.

That's all for now, hope the sun is shining where you are!
Ooh, and don't forget to check out our mega giveaway here :)

The magical land of Wardrobia!

Hi everyone,

Just a short & sweet post for you today :]

If you haven't already, please go, sign up and post lovely things on Walk in Wardrobia, created by the lovely Ceri (go and read her blog too)!

It's a great place to upload outfits, regardless of your shape, size and skin colour.

Tonight, I braved it and uploaded two new items that I've just bought from Dorothy Perkins.

It would be great if more people posted, as you'd get more of an idea of what clothes looked like on a similar shape before you buy.

Such a good idea :] See.. sneak peek!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend

Nails, nails, nails...

Hi everyone :]

Just thought i'd post quickly about a couple of things!

Today when I popped to Boots, I thought I would actually use the £5 No.7 voucher for once as Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter had recently shown a gorgeous glitter nail polish in her latest haul. As I'm not a massive fan of gold (and they didn't have any left), I decided to pick up the last silver one!

'Silver'
I'm sure it's from a special range... either way, I cannot wait to use it!

I also received this in the post today :] It's one of my latest eBay purchases and I think I only paid £3 for it, which is even better.

'Fly Away'
This looks a little sheer but we'll see... Maybe a NOTD?

More nails related news... I recently realised that you could search health & beauty products on mysupermarket.co.uk. Did anyone else know this? It's amazing!!!!

As you'll see, this compares products and prices between Boots, Superdrug and all (or most) UK supermarkets! I thought I'd have a quick nose at the 'nail' section and found that everything is on 3 for 2 which makes me a little more likely to try some Essie polish.

I'm not sure who is promoting the 3 for 2 offer, possibly Boots? Either way, my local store doesn't stock the 'big brands' so this is a great way to compare and find deals.

Hope you're all enjoying the weather :]

A VERY disappointing purchase..

I was considering not writing this review as I'm always reluctant to criticise a brand I (usually) love, but I thought.. hey, it really is a blogger's responsibility to share when they think a product is a pile of poop too. The product is Bourjois Volumizer Mascara, a bit of makeup kit that I've seen fawned over frequently on Youtube, etc - and as I was in the market for a new mascara, I thought I'd give this a go.

It's a two step system, step 1 claims to define and 'prepare' lashes for step 2, which supposedly offers maximum volume to your lashes with no clumps. When I received this I was pretty excited to use it after such gleaming reviews. Step 1 is fine (the brush handle is mega long) and adds just a thin coating of mascara, I suppose if you have rather healthy and long lashes this step may be just enough for you. Alas, I have short stubby ones so I thought step 2 would be just what I needed. Unfortunately there seems to be no suction system (?) when removing the wand which results in a brush full to the brim of mascara. It actually takes me longer to remove all the gloop from the wand than it does to use it! For a product that is a rather whopping £10.49, I would expect a little more. The result, after removing all the excess, is a pretty clumpy look that I really don't think is worth the pennies.

Here are a few pics to demonstrate!

Bourjois Volumizer
Step 1 - looks promising..
Step 2
Step 2 - oh dear!

I'm hoping that with time, as the mascara starts to dry a little, this product may be a little easier to use! Have you bought this product? Would love to know what others think!

Thanks for reading,
Collette

Rimmel: I love fruities lasting finish

Hi everyone :]

Hope you're all well?

This is such a lovely nail polish! I want to gobble it up, it smells that good.

Yes... I did mean 'smells'.

Rimmel have brought out a 'fruities' collection that when dry, smells delicious!
The above is the only one I have at the moment (025 Strawberry Fizz) and even after hunting high and low today, I couldn't find any others. I believe it comes in 4-5 other shades, including Apricot, Lemon and Cranberry! More information can be found here.

They look amazing when on as well. The application is nearly just as good, if not better than a Barry M polish and after two coats, you get a great finish.

I didn't realise at first that it was supposed to have a fruity smell. Once i'd let my nails dry, that was when I read the bottle and got all excited. My nails, even after a shower today, still smell lovely and fruity which is a pleasant change from the normal chemically smell.

They're reasonably priced, apply easily, dry quickly and smell tasty.

Have you tried these yet?

A day in the life of

Miss Mooface

Hi everyone :]

So as some of you know, writing daily blogs is hard.

I love the idea of writing them but when you have a specific topic, it can be a nightmare!

My other blog, previously 'Pass the scales' was too hard to write, as there's only so much you can talk about. Instead, I thought I'd revamp it a little and change it into a daily blog, where I can write all sorts! From reviews (non-beauty related), post pictures, what I've been up to and all those bits and pieces.

I follow a few people on here who write about similar things and it's nice to take a break from the beauty blogs.

I will be trying to post daily, do monthly giveaways (when there's enough followers) and I have hopefully open it up for anyone to comment!

Let me know what you think and please follow :]

Dorothy Perkins London Collection

Hi everyone :]

This bank holiday morning has so far been filled with pyjamas, tea and reading the news, so why not throw a spot of clothes shopping in there as well?

Dorothy Perkins, here I come! It's dangerous having fashion sites saved as a bookmark icons.

I tend to check out the 'What's new' section rather freqently but hadn't in some time so that was my first stop.

For those of you who love Dorothy Perkins will be aware of the Olivia Rubin range that has just been released but it would seem that they have also released something else on the quiet... a 'London' Collection! Where was my email to notify me of this little gem?

Click here to go and have a browse at the fabulous British influenced items :]
Note: You must be armed with a cup of tea and possibly several biscuits before entering.

Here are a few of my favourite pieces from the collection:

Grey mirrored print scarf - £9.50
Navy teacup print ankle socks - £2.50
Leopard print wellies - £23.00
Cream London Eye tee - £18.00

This isn't the world largest collection, not by any means but I love the fact that DP are celebrating
Britian and at a reasonable price as well.

What do you think of the new DP London collection?

I'd personally like to see more... Perhaps jewellery, handbags and maybe more tees/jumpers?

Hope you're all having a good (bank holiday) Monday!
